Stephen Winchester (1795–1873)

Baptized [January 21], 1833 baptized, while living in Springfield, Pennsylvania.   Evan M. Greene, 2. Not mentioned by name, but this is the only date baptisms are performed in or near Springfield before "Brother Winchester" is mentioned on January 30.

Makes bricks Summer 1834 makes bricks to construct a large house in Clay County for Col. Michael Arthur. Other workers include Wilford Woodruff (h1), Milton Holmes, Heman T. Hyde, Lyman Wight, and Benjamin Winchester.

Wilford Woodruff lived with Lyman Wight on Arthur's property. They began brick work about the first of July. Meetings of the high council and elders council met here, as did the branch, which met in Lyman's house. WWJ 1:12–13.

Ordained a priest November 5, 1834 teachers Stephen Winchester and Wilford Woodruff, and member Heman T. Hyde, apply for ordination. Simeon Carter is appointed to ordain Elias F. Wells, George Burkett, and Samuel Brown elders; and Stephen Winchester, Wilford Woodruff, Heman T. Hyde priests.
