Vermont   January 1801 family moves to Whitingham, Windham County, Vermont, "where he remained for three years, opening new farms."   BY history 25, no. 19 (May 6, 1863): 295.
New York   1804 family moves to Sherburne, Chenango County, New York.   Ibid
    1813 family moves to Auburn, Cayuga County, New York.   Ibid
Mother dies   June 11, 1815 Nabby dies of consumption (tuberculosis).   L D Young, 26 has 1814; BY history, 295 and [SHOWREF=byny, 4 have 1815.
    1817 family moves to Tyrone, Steuben County and John marries widow Hannah Brown (1 son)   BY history, 295.
Methodist   [1822] Brigham becomes a member of the Methodist Church.    
Marries   October 8, 1824 marries Miriam Works in Aurelius, New York.    
Mendon   1827 family moves to Mendon, Monroe County, New York.   Ibid
    Spring 1830 sees Book of Mormon for the first time.    
Visits church in Columbia   January 1832 travels with Heber C. Kimball and others from Mendon, New York to visit the church in Columbia. According to Heber, the gifts of tongues and prophecy were manifest.   ¶ Heber C. Kimball (h2)
Baptized, ordained   April 14, 1832 baptized by Eleazer Miller, ordained an elder the same day.   BY history 25, no. 28 (July 11, 1864): 438.
First mission   Spring 1832 preaches with Heber and Joseph Young in Genesee, Avon and Lyonstown.   ¶ Heber C. Kimball (h2)
Miriam dies   September 8, 1832 Miriam dies.    
Kirtland   October–November 1832 travels to Kirtland to see Joseph Smith.    
Claims power to receive revelations, perform miracles, sings in tongues, superior to Joseph   [Date unknown. S. F. Whitney:] Brigham Young came soon after and preached in the ball-room of the Brick Tavern at the Flats. My brother [N. K. Whitney] sent word for me to come and hear him. He took no text and claimed to be inspired, and said a woman in New York told him every word he spoke was a text. He said not all received revelations, but he did. He claimed he had the power to perform miracles, related various exploits he had done, and sang in the unknown tongue. He had much more ability than Joe Smith.   Rev. S. F. W.
Canada   December 1832 mission to to Upper Canada, returning to Mendon in February 1833.    
Canada   April–August 1833 second mission to Upper Canada.    
Kirtland   Fall 1833 moves to Kirtland with Heber, arriving in late October or early November. They construct a small house.   ¶ Heber C. Kimball (h2)

  February 18, 1834 marries Mary Ann Angell.    
Zion's Camp   May–July, 1834 Zion’s Camp.    
Defends Joseph   August 29, 1834 defends Joseph against charges of misbehavior on Zion's Camp; is selected to lead the singing at meetings.   ¶ Minutes of August 29, 1834
House of the Lord   1834 works on House of the Lord in Kirtland.    
Apostle February 14, 1835 ordained an apostle.    
Preach to the Indians   May 2, 1835 at a council of the First Presidency, Twelve, some of the Seventy, and some elders, Brigham, John P. Greene, and Amos Orton are named to preach to "the remnants of Joseph … and this will open a door to all the house of Joseph."   ¶ Minutes of May 2, 1835
Mission of the Twelve   May–September 1835 mission east with the Twelve.    
Hebrew school   Fall 1835 attends Hebrew classes.    
Supports Joseph in debate incident December 28, 1835 supports Joseph in finding Almon Babbitt at fault for criticizing his behavior at the debating school.   Debating School Incident
House of the Lord dedication March 1836 attends dedication of the House of the Lord.    
Kirtland Safety Society   January 1837 becomes charter member of the Kirtland Safety Society, investing $7 @ 4¢/share.   Kirtland economy, 78, 80.
    March–June 1837 business mission east with Willard Richards (h).    
    June–August 1837 mission to New York and Massachusetts.    
    December 22, 1837 leaves Kirtland for Missouri.    
    March 14, 1838 arrives Far West, Missouri.    
    Fall 1838–Spring 1839 organizes exodus from Missouri to Quincy, Illinois.    
Second mission to England from Far West   April 26, 1839 as appointed by revelation, Brigham, Heber Orson Pratt, John E. Page, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, and George A. Smith of the Twelve hold brief services at the temple site in Far West, then return to Nauvoo (Commerce) to settle their families before departing for England. Illness struck them and their families, like most, through the summer.   "…let the Twelve be organized … And next spring let them depart to go over the great waters, … Let them take leave of my saints in the city of Far West, on the twenty-sixth day of April next, on the building-spot of my house, saith the Lord." D&C 118: 1, 4–5 (July 8, 1838)
  May 1839 moves to Montrose, Iowa.    
Leave Nauvoo   September 18, 1839 leaves Nauvoo with Heber. Both are ill and weak—as are their spouses.   Heber, 66–67.
Sail   March 9, 1840 sail from New York with Heber, Orson and Parley Pratt, and George A. Smith of the Twelve, also Reuben Hedlock.    
Liverpool   April 6, 1840 arrive in Liverpool.    
Conference membership   April 14–16, 1840 conference in Preston, eight apostles, over 500 members from 34 branches. Total mission membership 1,850.   Kimball diaries, 27.
