Primacy of First Presidency |
Joseph is sustained as "president of the whole church" for the first time with Sidney Rigdon and Frederick G. Williams as counselors, and as assistant counselors, three Smiths and Oliver Cowdery. The First Presidency and assistant counselors are to be considered "the heads of the Church." Three apostles are rejected and four high counselors dropped.. |

| Apostates (1864) |
George A. Smith recalls
the unusual characters and spiritual manifestations of the early Kirtland
period, especially Ezra Booth. Joseph and Sidney tarred and feathered. Dedication
of the House of the Lord at Kirtland. The bank failed because Warren Parrish
and other apostates embezzled funds. Councils and trials were held constantly
in Kirtland. |
