The Kirtland high council considers an inquiry from members in Bolton, New York: Should they move to Zion? After lengthy address by six counselors and three members of the First Presidency, Joseph decides they should move to Kirtland.

New York members: go to Zion? Brethren from Bolton, Warren County, New York, ask about moving to Missouri. Three counselors are assigned to speak on each side of the question: [83] Orson Johnson, Edmund Durfee, and John Johnson; and Luke Johnson, Martin Harris, and Joseph Coe.

They speak at "considerable length," followed by "Presidents Williams & Rigdon. President Williams went into some minute minute particulars relative to the propriety of the tarrying of the brethren," and "President Rigdon occupied considerable time and laid before the council at great length, the importance of assisting the church in this place," preparing a place for endowments, and printing and disseminating the word of the Lord.   Frederick and Sidney long-winded
Brother Tanner to help in Kirtland "President Smith took up the subject still further, and occupied a long time in presenting the importance of the same thing." Then he renders the decision. Brother Tanner should help build up the cause in Kirtland.
