St. Johnsbury, Vermont
Jacob Gates Jacob Gates was born in St. Johnsbury on March 9, 1811. Jacob Gates (1862–1892) became one of the Seven Presidents of the Seventy.

June 13, 1833 Orson Pratt and Lyman E. Johnson arrive June 13, 1833, having attended conference in Bath. Orson preaches on "the scattering of Israel and more revelations and miracles at their gathering;" preaches the gospel the next day. Orson Pratt journals

June 14, splits with Lyman We concluded to separate for a season. Brother Lyman went to Charleston and continued laboring in the adjoining towns, and I tarried at St. Johnsbury, and held a meeting in the afternoon of the same day and preached the gospel. Orson Pratt journals

June 15, heals 1 Heals Emily Harvey, a young woman who had been "sick about 12 weeks and vomited much blood; and it was supposed by many that she culd not live many days. She was desirous that I should pray for her that she might be healed, at the same time covenanting before God to obey the gospel." Orson blesses her "and she was immediately healed." June 18, baptizes 6 Zerubbabel Snow returns to St. Johnsbury from the west. Orson baptizes Gardner Snow, Willard Snow, Lucina Snow, Jacob Gates, Mary Gates, and Emily Harvey (who was healed on June 15); evening confirmation meeting. Orson Pratt journals

July 17, 1835 Vermont Conference attended by the Twelve in St. Johnsbury. Includes branches in St. Johnsbury (41 members), Danville (23), Charlston (31), Jay (11), Dalton (15), Landaff (4), Littleton (10), Andover (15), Benson (7), and Lewis, New York (17). Six apostles speak. MH B-1
