Other Prophecies
 1831
Josiah Jones account of what Joseph probably meant by "false spirits"   Disaffected Mormon Josiah Jones details early (June 1831) Kirtland attempts at healing, prophesying. Illustrates early preoccupation with Indians incorporated into enthusiastic revivalist manifestations of the spirit.   History of the Mormonites

False Spirits

Lyman Wight vision and prophecy June [3–6] of second coming, martyrs
During the first conference in Kirtland, Lyman prophecies many present will live to see the second coming, some will be martyred.   ¶ Lyman's Vision and the Man of Sin

Martin Harris

Low reputation
… [Martin Harris] has frequent fits of prophecying, although they are not held in very high repute among his brethren. A specimen of his prophetic powers we subjoin. They were written for the special information of a friend of his who placed them upon the wall of his office, and are in these words:   Mormonism unvailed, 14.
End by September 1836

Righteous in Zion, no wicked, no president
"Within four years from September 1832, there will not be one wicked person left in the United States; that the righteous will be gathered to Zion, and that there will be no President over these United States after that time.
    "MARTIN HARRIS
Churches broken

All but Mormonites destroyed

Cut off my hand
"I do hereby assert and declare that in four years from the date hereof, every sectarian and religious denomination in the United States, shall be broken down, and every Christian shall be gathered unto the Mormonites, and the rest of the human race shall perish. If these things do not take place, I will hereby consent to have my hand separated from my body.

[1836–1837]
Parley P. Pratt

Violence in Canada
Elder Pratt soon began to lay before us some of the things which were coming on the earth. He propecied that great trouble was coming speedily on Canada; and others in the Church, in the spirit of prophecy, said that soon the steamboats would come loaded with rebels.   ¶ Joseph Fielding to Millennial Star, 1841

Destruction in Toronto

Strife and evidence of famine
About this time several of our Brethren in the Church /April 1837/ prophesied of Calamities coming on Canada as fearful Omens had been given of War and Famine. Elder P. P. Pratt in his parting Address, in Tears, declared the Sword and Blood awaited that Place (Toronto). Bro William Knoles had several times spoken to the same effect. There was nothing but Contention, Political and Religious, and every Appearance of approaching Scarcity if not of Famine.
