Hiram Winters: Zion's Camp
On or about June 20, the company runs short of provisions. Joseph Hancock kills a deer which. Hiram's company receives two pounds of bread, which, with two pounds of bread, fills twelve men. During cholera epidemic, Burr Riggs is discovered as stiff as a log, but is blessed and instantly recovers.
Short of supplies I was cook of the second company. About four days before we were disbanded, our company ran short of provisions. We ate the last bite for breakfast. I applied at the commissary wagon for something for dinner, but received nothing, for the every good reason that it was empty. Juvenile Instructor18, no. 6 (15 Mar. 1883): 86.

The company disbanded June 24. J. Whitmer, 72n4.
Joseph Hancock kills deer

Two pounds and bread for twelve
During the day, however, Joseph Hancock, while hunting, killed a deer, and, just after coming into camp at night, sent us about two pounds of venison. This together with a two-pound loaf of bread, which we received from another company, had to serve as supper for twelve men.
All filled The meat and bread were divided into equal parts and passed to the company. By the blessing of the Lord we all ate till we were satisfied, and there was some left.
Cholera (earlier) Some days previous to this, Joseph renewed the promise of a safe journey; and at the same time prophesied that, on account of fault-finding, the Lord would send a scourge upon the camp. In fulfillment of the prophecy, we were visited at our last camping place by the cholera.
I was sergeant of the night-guards, with instructions to see each guard every fifteen minutes, and speak to him in a whisper and receive a reply.
Burr Riggs found rigid The last night, about twelve o'clock, in going the third round, Burr Riggs was missing from his post. I found his body behind a log that lay about a rod away, as stiff as the log itself. Calling to Alexander Whiteside, I asked him to carry the body to his tent while I went for Joseph. We lifted the body to his shoulder and it still remained perfectly straight. In 1831 , Burr would "fall like he was dead after an hour or two he would come to then prophesy and tell what he had seen." ¶ Levi Hancock
First Presidency administer to him

Instant recovery

I soon found Joseph and Hyrum and F. G. Williams, who administered to him; and it was not over fifteen minutes from the time I found him till he was back at his post.
