57 *†° July 20, 1831 — 27 Missouri the land of promise, city of Zion to be built. Build temple west of courthouse. Purchase lands to the Indian Territory for inheritances. Sidney Gilbert provide goods for the Saints and get license to trade with the Indians so gospel can be preached to them. Edward Partridge assign inheritances, W. W. Phelps church printer with Oliver assisting. Sidney Gilbert, W. W. Phelps, and Oliver move to Zion.
58 *» August [1–2], 1831 59 18 Keep commandments, see God hereafter. Blessings after tribulation.Edward Partridge and W. W. Phelps rebuked. Edward, Sidney Gilbert, and W. W. Phelps to move to Zion. Slothful servents damned, don't wait to be commanded in all things. Buy entire region, otherwise, may have to shed blood. Signs follow believers.
59 *† August, 1831 60 19 Blessings for those who come to Zion for the glory of God. Love the Lord, serve neightobrs, don't steal, etc., broken heart and contrite spirit. Everything on earth made for man, to be used responsibly. God expects gratitude, obedience.
60 *» August 8, 1831 61 70 Build or buy a boat to go to St. Louis. Preach on return to Kirtland. Shake off dust as a witness.
61 *† August 12, 1831 62 71 Water travel unsafe. Lord comes when not expected.
62 *† August 13, 1831 63 72 John Murdock, Hyrum, Harvey Whitlock, David Whitmer gather in Zion, meet and rejoice, then resume mission.
