Doctrine and Covenants 21
April 6, 1830, Fayette, New York.

A record to be kept. Joseph a seer, translator, prophet, apostle, and elder. Church to give heed to him and receive his word "as if from mine own mouth" §. Apostle Oliver Cowdery is to ordain him first elder §. Oliver is also an elder and the "first preacher."

, probably aware of the discrepancies, decided to ignore the problem altogether by not providing a location.
Further complicating the issue, the minutes of May 3, 1834 prepared by Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowder, and Frederick G. Williams state the Church was organized in Fayette. Seneca county, New-York. on the 6th of April, A. D. 1830." D&C
