Doctrine and Covenants 38
January 2, 1831, Fayette, New York.
A land of promise and riches to inherit for eternity §. God will rule §. Go to Ohio for His law and power from on high §. Sell, rent, sacrifice New York property §. Be clean and united, preach in meekness.
The current LDS D&C dates this revelation January 1, 1831, presumably based on the minutes of September 26, 1830 which indicates that the conference "adjourned to January 1 1831." However, under the date of January 2, 1831, the Far West Record states (in toto): "Conference convened according to adjournment but there were no minutes taken, save a commandment received, giving directions to the Saints, see Book of Commandments, page 80."
Book of Commandments 40 heading: A Revelation to the churches in New-York, commanding them to remove to Ohio, given in Fayette, New-York, January, 1831.
1835 Doctrine and Covenants 12 heading: Revelation given January, 1831.
