Doctrine and Covenants 86
December 6, 1832, Kirtland, Ohio.

Parable of the wheat and the tares: Satan rules through Babylon the whore §. The Lord is sending out the word now and blades begin sprout §. Angels want to harvest but the Lord restrains them until the harvest is fully ready §. The priesthood came down through history in the Prophet's ancestors, hidden from the world §. Joseph is to restore all and through the priesthood be a savior to the world .

Not printed in the Book of Commandments.

A Revelation explaining the parable of the Wheet & <the> Tears   "Revelation explaining the parable of the wheat and tares December 1832. / ON PRIESTHOOD." 6
Parable of wheat and tares 1 Verily thus saith the Lord unto you my servants concerning the parable of the wheaet and of the tears, 1
Field = world apostles = sowers 2 Behold verily I say that the field was the world and the Apostles were the sowers of the seed
While apostles sleep Babylon seduces all nations

Satan reigns sowing tares
3 and after they have fallen asleep the great persecutor of the church the apostate, the whore, even Babylon, that maketh all nations to drink of her cup, in whose hearts the enemy even Satan sitteth to reign, behold he soweth the tears, wherefore the tears choke the wheet and drive the church into the wilderness,   Enemies

the whore: cf. ¶ D&C 88:94
Now Lord's crop begins to rise 4 but behold in the last days, even now while the Lord is begining to bring forth the word, and the blade is springing up and is yet tender, 2
Angels want to harvest 5 behold verily I say unto you the angels are crying unto the Lord, day and night who are ready and waiting to be sent forth [32] to reap down the fields,
No you will destroy the tender (weak) wheat 6 but the Lord saith unto them pluck not up the tears while the blade is yet tender (for verily your faith is weak) lest you destroy the wheat also,
Let wheat and tares grow together

Then harvest and burn fields
7 therefore let the wheat and the tears grow together untill the harvest is fully ripe then ye shall first gather out the wheat from among the tears and after the gathering of the wheet, behold and lo the tears are baund in bund[l]es, and the field remaineth to be burned
Priesthood passes through lineage 8 therefore thus saith the Lord unto you with whom the priesthood hath continued through the lineage of your fathers, 3 Royal Lineage

Priesthood Teachings
Lawful heirs hidden from the world 9 for ye are lawful heirs according to the flesh and have been hid from the world with Christ in God
Must remain until all is restored 10 therefore your life, and the Priesthood hath remained and must needs remain through you and your lineage untill the restoration of all things spoken by the mouth of all the holy Prophets since the world began,
Be a light to the gentiles

Through priesthood a savior to Israel
11 therefore blessed are ye if ye continue in my goodness, a light unto the Gentiles and th<r>ough this Priesthood a savior unto my people Israel the Lord hath said it 4
